#DarwinDays: Celebrating Creativity, Community & the Little Bird That Kisses Flowers
Welcome to #DarwinDays!
#DarwinDays celebrates the people behind Beija Flor—the florists, drivers, and creatives who bring fresh flowers and joy to Darwin every day. Each portrait captures a moment of colour, passion, and personality in our tropical home.

📍 Every detail in this campaign is uniquely Darwin:
🦜 The parrots and macaws? A nod to our namesake, Beija-Flor—the ‘little bird that kisses flowers.’
🛍 The outfits? Sourced from independent local boutiques, championing Territory style.
🐊 The crocodile? Well… it wouldn’t be Darwin without one.

The Creatives Behind #DarwinDays
This campaign wouldn’t be possible without the incredible local businesses and creatives who helped bring our vision to life. From our lush flower-filled set to the stunning styling, photography, and wildlife, every detail celebrates Darwin’s unique beauty and the talented people who make it special.
The Set – A 70s Tropical Dream
We spent two fun-filled days creating our lush floral set at The Lily Pad, a stunning private pool villa in Parap, hosted by LPK Luxury Home Hosting. The villa’s retro 1970s brick feature wall was the perfect backdrop, giving a warm, textural contrast to our vibrant blooms. With ample space for getting ready, it made the ideal creative hub for our team.
🪑 Styling & Furnishings
Our tropical-meets-vintage aesthetic was elevated with 1970s-inspired furnishings from Amari Styling, including the green velvet tub chair, which became a standout piece in the shoot.

🍉 Fresh Territory Flavours
From flowers to fruit, we love working with the freshest local finds. A special thanks to Nick from Aussie Snacks, who carved the star-cut watermelons, and MD Fresh, who provided a mountain of mangoes, giving us that perfect NT summer feel.
📸 Photography
Capturing the campaign’s magic was George Fragopoulos, who has been part of the Beija Flor journey since the very beginning—he also photographed Maria for our original launch shoot back in 2016 (just Maria and the parrots back then!).
🎥 Behind-the-Scenes
From floral styling to animal antics, Justin from North Australian Media was on hand to film all the blooper-worthy moments that come with working on a set full of wildlife.
💄 Hair & Makeup – The Transformation
We may be florists on the tools most days, but for this shoot, we were transformed into magazine-worthy models thanks to:
- Despina from Vanilla Hair Studio – master of styling everything from relaxed waves to statement updos.
- Lauren Lo Castro – who created fresh, glowing makeup that kept us looking fabulous even in the tropical heat.
🌺 Floral Styling – A True Team Effort
Bringing our floral vision to life was a whole-team affair, with Maria, Mary, Sarah, Gabby, and Caroline working together to set up the lush florals that surrounded us in blooms.
Our floral set came to life with a rich tapestry of blooms and botanicals. A mix of interstate treasures and locally grown wonders. Blousy coral charm peonies and fragrant mock orange spilled between towering travellers palm leaves, while vibrant torch gingers and trailing heliconia rostrata added an unmistakable Northern Territory energy. Lush green ferns and patterned coleus wove through the scene, softening the bold reds and fiery hues of beehive gingers and costus. Every plant, and bloom was chosen to reflect the wild beauty of Darwin, creating a space that felt both abundant and artfully composed.

Zala the Macaw has had enough of photos for today.

The Fashion – Styled by Darwin’s Independent Boutiques
We love supporting local businesses, so every outfit in this campaign was sourced from Darwin’s independent boutiques, with each team member self-styling their look.

Wildlife on Set
No Beija Flor shoot would be complete without feathered friends!
🦜 Our parrots and macaws are a tribute to our namesake—Beija-Flor, the Portuguese word for hummingbird (literally, ‘little bird that kisses flowers’).
✨ Fun fact: The hyacinth macaw featured in this shoot is the brother of the macaw from our 2016 campaign!
🐊 And the crocodile? Well, it just wouldn’t be Darwin without one!
A huge thanks to Tom and Charlotte from Top End Critters for bringing along:
- Snowflake, the albino saltie
- Pebbles the freshwater crocodile
- Lilly the curious Galah
- Squeak the blue and gold Hyacinth Macaw
- Zala the Red Macaw
- Lola the Red Eclectus Parrot
