Cover Girls - Making the Front Page on Valentine's Day!
Valentine's Day has always been a whirlwind of love, excitement, and, of course, flowers at Beija Flor. It’s a last-minute dash to get all the roses cut and prepared in time for the big day and early starts are what we do. So imagine my excitement when I stopped to fuel the van at 2:00 am to discover we were on the front page of the NT News! Our smiling florist team, surrounded by a blooming sea of roses, it's not every day you get dubbed "cover girls" simply by doing what you love!
Valentine's Day at Beija Flor is one of our busiest days of the year, and this year was no exception. We want to extend a massive thank you to all our wonderful customers who chose us this Valentine's Day. Your support means the world to us, and it's what keeps our passion for flowers burning bright. But let's not forget our incredible team, who worked through the night to make sure every bouquet and every single rose found its way to the hands of someone special.
As we look back on the day’s flurry, we can’t help but reflect on some fascinating trends. We noticed a preference for bouquets over vase arrangements. It seems like everyone's homes are already filled with enough flower shop vases, and we love that you’re opting for the simple beauty of fresh-cut flowers. Roses were still the most popular option (no surprises there!) and the colour-popping purple orchids also sold out early in the day.
Following up on the predictions made in the NT News article, we noticed a big increase in online orders and deliveries. It's clear that our community loves the convenience and ease of sending flowers through a few clicks, and we're here for it! However, the cost of living crisis has affected brick-and-mortar retailers across the board, and unfortunately, we felt that too, with in-store sales and the average spend per customer being lower than.
So, here's a massive shout-out to everyone who made this Valentine’s Day unforgettable. Whether through an online order, a visit to our store amidst the rain, or the selection of a thoughtfully chosen bouquet, you’ve all contributed to a very special day. Thank you to Jordan McCarthy for writing us up and Pema Tamang Pakhrin for photographing us in the shop. We loved your creative direction on getting all red roses positioned just so!
Until next time, keep spreading the love and remember, sometimes, doing your job with passion and dedication can land you on the front page!
With all our love and gratitude,
Maria and The Beija Flor Team
