Territory—Netflix’s Newest Series
Netflix’s latest series, Territory, has captured viewers with its rugged beauty, raw emotions, and of course, a bit of Aussie grit. It’s currently the number one show in Australia on Netfilx. Filmed right here in the Top End, we loved spotting the familiar locations of Wangi Falls, Crab Claw Island and Kakadu. If you’re curious about the show’s unique details and local touches, including our own Beija Flor flowers that added drama to a key scene, here’s the inside scoop!
Beija Flor’s Role in Territory - Funeral Flowers for Daniel
When it came to bringing an extra layer of authenticity to Territory, we at Beija Flor were thrilled to be involved! We were approached by the set designer and prop master to provide funeral flowers for the opening episode. We crafted a striking casket spray of native blooms, along with centerpieces for the wake.
One of the more unforgettable scenes, involves a tense moment at the wake when a vase gets smashed in a heated argument. Watching our carefully crafted arrangement meet such a dramatic end added a bit of heartbreak from our side!
Top End Filming Locations
The real life Tipperary Station was used as the Marianne Station, the home and operational hub for the Lawsons family’s cattle empire. This is where the set team built the Lawson Homestead in just eight weeks. Being a working cattle station the location presented some unique challenges, meaning that every variety of flower we used had to be approved for quarantine.
Rumor has it the homestead is still standing! Whether it will be part of more filming is anyone’s guess!
What’s Next for Territory?
With the first season receiving such a strong response, fans are already buzzing about the possibility of more. The fact that the homestead set is still intact has certainly fuelled speculation—could this mean a second season is in the works? The remote and rugged setting offers plenty more stories to explore, and we’d be thrilled to be part of that journey again, providing florals that tell their own piece of the story.
For us at Beija Flor, being a small part of Territory has been a wonderful experience, bringing a bit of our floral magic to the world of film. Whether it’s for a wedding, a farewell, or a Netflix series, we believe flowers can speak volumes. So next time you watch Territory, keep an eye out for our blooms as well as the stunning natural locations that we know and love.
